FAQ: Darts, PDC World Championship. The interpretation of the tip is that Woodhouse wins at least 2 sets.
Justification: It’s fairly a 50-50% match up, hence logically, there is more value with Luke Woodhouse‘s (35.) odds. Both parties are approximately the same age, both have about the same experience from previous world championships, and there isn’t a huge difference in their current world rankings. The reason why betting offices rather lean towards Mike De Decker (24.) is mainly due to his exceptional performances in the last few big tournaments of the year, thus the media has jumped on the hype train stating that “he is one of the secret prospects of this year’s championship”. Traditional big-name favorites aren’t in top form currently, hence more and more people are expecting a “dark horse” to emerge victorious. Well, De Decker is indeed capable of surprising on a good day, but in one of his weaker periods, his game is absolutely beatable by a top 40 opponent! Woodhouse is a particularly strong competitor in this 2nd round, who can be a problem. I’m not claiming that the English player will surely win, but since he will start the match, the positive handicap may position us favourably. Especially considering that Woodhouse won all their previous encounters…
Final result: 1-3 => the tip WON! 🙂
