Reasoning: The strengthening position of Portugal and Ireland means that there will be a shortage of qualifying spots in the 1st semi-final. With at least 9 spots already taken by strong contenders, there is only one spot left for 6 countries to compete for, including Australia with their entry “Electric Fields – One Milkali (One Blood),” which seemed weak to me from the start.

Outperforming Azerbaijan alone might not be enough for Australia to make it to the final. Their song promotes unity to help address the situation of Australian indigenous people and smooth out interethnic conflicts. Nevertheless, the chorus in Yankunytjatjara language might not be understood by the audience, which could negatively impact their assessment. It’s admirable that this pop-soul duo creates in 3 different languages, including 2 Australian indigenous dialects to preserve their culture; however, I believe this might not gain as much sympathy votes for them in Europe in 2024.
